Nepal Armed Police Force Club (APF) are one win away from the National Women's League title after defeating Nepal Police Club (NPC) 2-1 on Monday.
APF have five points lead over Tribhuvan Army Football Club (TAFC) with two games remaining. They will also win the title if TAFC lose or draw their next match against NPC.
In an entertaining match at ANFA Complex, an own goal from Ghim Kumari Gurung and another one from Rabina Gole won the match for APF.
After a goalless first half, APF's Sushma Tamang's shot was deflected into the own net by Gurung in the 69th minute. NPC levelled in the 75th minute when a shot by Amrita Jaisi struck Gita Rana and went above APF's goalie Anjila Tumbapo Subba. It was the first goal conceded by APF in the tournament.
Just when it looked like APF would lose their first points, Rabina Gole scored four minutes from time to give the win for APF.
APF coach Bhagwati Thapa said it was a tough win for them. "They played defensive game which stopped our strikers from scoring. Injury to Sabitra Bhandari also affected our play," said Thapa.
NPC coach Sanjeev Joshi said they were unfortunate to lose the game. "The own goal was unfortunate. We should now win the remaining two matches to finish well in the tournament," said Joshi.
NPC are fourth on the table, level on point with Waling but behind on head-to-head result.

Rashmi Ghising scored four times and Bimala Chaudhary hit two as Tribhuvan Army Football Club (TAFC) defeated Chandrapur Municipality Rauthat 6-1 in the National Women's League match on Sunday.
Ghising opened the scoring in the 10th minute before adding another in the 22nd minute. Chaudhary made it 3-0 with the team's third a minute later. Rajani Thokar pulled one back for Rautahat in the first minute of added time in the first half after a mistake by TAFC goalkeeper Anjana Rana Magar.
TAFC were awarded a penalty in the 50th minute after Ghising was fouled by Rojina Shrestha which Ghising converted. Chaudhary scored her second in the 56th and Ghising added her fourth five minutes later.
TAFC now have 11 points lead over Waling Municipality Syangja and are guaranteed to finish at least second in the ongoing league. Their gap over leaders Nepal Armed Police Force Club (APF) is two points but TAFC have played a game more.
TAFC coach Raju Tamang said they should have scored more against the team they thrashed 10-0 in the first leg. "But what matters more is the result and we got three points today," said Tamang.
Chandrapur coach Noorraj Kafle was satisfied with the performance with the team. "We lost with a bigger scoreline in first leg. Conceding only six is improvement," said Kafle.
With two games remaining, Chandrapur, with six points after 10 matches, are now guaranteed to finish sixth with Biratnagar seven points above them and Chaudandigadhi six points below them. Pointless Chaudandigadhi are six points below Chandrapur but are unlikely to leapfrog Chandrapur even if they win their remaining two matches. They have lost the first leg and conceded more than double goals than Chandrapur.

Parbati Ghale scored twice as Biratnagar Metropolitan City came from behind to defeat Chaudandigadhi Municipality Udaypur 2-1 in the National Women's League on Saturday.
Manita Tamang had given the lead to Chaudandigadhi in the seventh minute before Ghale levelled in the 15th minute. Ghale pounced on to give Biratnagar the lead three minutes before time after Chaudandigadhi's goalkeeper Susmita Rai failed to keep hold of the free kick by Asha Kumari.
Biratnagar coach Paras Chaudhary was delighted for the team's fighting spirit in the win. "We were unlucky to hit the cross bar couple of times but the girls kept fighting. We were able to equalize and finally score the winning goal few minutes before time," said Chaudhary.
Chaudandigadhi's coach Dipak Thapa said the small mistake by goalkeeper Rai had a big impact on their match. "We had played for three points but she failed to hold the ball. That cost us our first point," said Thapa.
Biratnagar are fifth on the table with 13 points. Chaudandigadhi are bottom of the table without a point from 10 matches.

Nepal Armed Police Force Club (APF) closed in on the National Women's League title after registering their ninth consecutive win with a 6-0 defeat of Waling Municipality Syangja.
APF will win the title if they win the remaining two matches regardless of results elsewhere. They have five points lead over Tribhuvan Army Football Club (TAFC).
Sabitra Bhandari scored five times for APF while Preeti Rai had one in the win at ANFA Complex. Bhandari opened the scoring in the seventh minute and added another in the 16th. Four minutes later she completed her hat-trick.
Preeti Rai made it 4-0 in the added minutes of first half. Waling had few chances of their own but lacked finishing up front in the first half.
Waling improved in the second half but were unable to prevent Bhandari from scoring twice in the second half. Bhandari fourth in the 64th minute was scoffed into the net by Waling's goalie Sabitri Kishan. There was little Kishan could do in Bhandari's fifth in the last added minutes.
APF coach Bhagwati Thapa lauded the impact of foreign players in Waling's performance. "Their foreign players are really good and speedy. We could score early goals which helped us," said Thapa.
Waling's coach Dilip Thapa said no team likes to loose but should accept it and move on. "Our next two games are very important for us. We win those two, we can finish in third place," said Thapa.
Waling are currently in third place with 14 points, above Nepal Police Club on head-to-head difference but have played a game more than NPC.
