Machhindra's loss benefits Church Boys, Manang win

API Power Church Boys United are a win away from the title after Machhindra Football Club lost 2-1 to Nepal Police Club in the Martyr's Memorial A Division League 2023.

Machhindra have 39 points and are five points below leaders Church Boys with two games remaining. Police came from a goal down to defeat the defending champions and inflict a major blow to their title hopes.

Machhindra had taken the lead through Afeez Olawale Oladipo in the 25th minute but a brace from Moses Gyabaah Twum, first of which came in the 75th and second in the 83rd minute, gave Police the win at Chyasal Stadium. Police are fourth with 37 points.

Sankata Club moved five points clear of relegation zone and breathed a sigh of relief after a 3-0 defeat of FC Khumaltar, who are holed at the bottom of the points table and now require something very special to secure their top-flight status.

In the match at ANFA Complex, Nishan Khadka, Ayush Ghalan and Chandan Kumar Das secured the win for Sankata. Khadka gave Sankata the lead in the 16th minute before Ghalan doubled it in the 38th. Das struck in the 79th minute of the game to secure the win.

Sankata have 30 points and are 11th while Khumaltar have 24 points.

Manang Marsyangdi Club shared points with relegation-threatened Friends Club after a 1-1 draw in the final game of the day at Dasharath Stadium. Nirajan Dhami headed Manang ahead in the 52nd minute of the game but a penalty four minutes from time by Amit Tamang ended the match goalless.

The match became tense after the final whistle as officials from Manang debated the decision to award the penalty for Friends Club.

The other game between New Road Team and Himalayan Sherpa Club ended 1-1. After a goalless first half at Dasharath Stadium, Diwash Urau gave Sherpa the lead in the 52nd minute before Dipesh Ale Magar levelled for NRT three minutes later. Sherpa have 31 points and lie seventh while NRT have 30 points are at 10th on the table.

Church Boys closer to title after Jawalakhel victory, Satdobato defeat Army

A double from Aashish Chaudhary helped API Power Church Boys United move closer to the title of Martyr's Memorial A Division League 2023 with a 3-0 victory over another title contender Jawalakhel Youth Club.

In the third match of the day, Anjan Bista put Church Boys ahead from the spot in the first half. Bista's penalty shot was initially saved by Jawalakhel goalkeeper Ishwor Gurung but Bista buried the rebound off the post into the net.

Chaudhary then scored twice in the final few minutes to seal the victory. His first came in the 88th minute and added another in the third minute of the added time.

Jawalakhel are third on the table with 37 points with two games remaining.

In the other matches of the day, Tribhuvan Army Football Club lost 2-0 to Royal Blue Satdobato Youth Club and Three Star Club secured a 1-1 draw with APF Football Club. 

In the match at Chyasal Stadium, Satdobato took the lead through Shiva Subedi in just the second minute of the game before Nawayug Shrestha levelled from the spot in the 29th minute. But another penalty in the 63rd minute this time to Satdobato sealed the victory for them.

Dipenk Raj Singh scored from the spot to secure three points for Satdobato. The win takes Satdobato to fifth on the table with 32 points while Army are two points below on seventh.

The other game at Dasharath Stadium saw Three Star and APF sharing points. APF had taken the lead through Mani Kumar Lama in the 23rd minute but Sunil Tamang secured the point for three star four minutes from time. APF are ninth with 30 points and Three Star are 11th with 28.

Manang, Police register win to ease relegation woes

Nepal Police Club and Mananag Marsyangdi Club won their respective matches in the Martyr's Memorial A Division League 2023 on Thursday.

Police defeated New Road Team and Manang defeated FC Khumaltar with a similar scoreline of 1-0.

In the game at Dasharath Stadium, Moses Gyabaah Twum scored the only goal for the departmental side. Police are fourth with 34 points while New Road Team are 10th with 29 points.

In the other game, Himalayan Sherpa Club and Friends Club shared points after a goalless draw at Chyasal Stadium. Sherpa are seventh with 30 points while Friends lie in relegation zone with 25 points.

The third match of the day saw Manang Marsyagdi score a late goal to defeat FC Khumaltar 1-0.

Roshan Rana Magar scored the only goal in the fourth minute of added time to secure the win for Manang. Manang jumped up to fifth on the table with 31 points after the game while Khumaltar are bottom with 24 points.

Olawale's hat-trick helps Machhindra maintain pressure at top; Three Star, Sankata share points

Afeez Olawale Oladipo scored a hat-trick as Machhindra Football Club maintained pressure on leaders API Power Church Boys United with a 3-1 win over Royal Blue Satdobato Youth Club on Wednesday.

In the match at ANFA Complex in Satdobato, Olawale scored twice in first half and got another one in the second to take his total goal tally to 18 in the season leading the individual goal scoring charts.

Olawale gave Machhindra the lead in the 17th minute and added the second just before half time. He completed his hat-trick in the 56th minute before Jordan Pun Magar pulled one back for Satdobato in the 84th.

Machhindra now have 39 points and are three points behind leaders Church Boys. Satdobato meanwhile slip a place down to seventh in the points table.

In the other match at Chyasal Stadium, Three Star Club and Sankata Club shared points after a goalless draw. The draw means Three Star are now 10 games without a win in the league and stay at 11th in the points table. Sankata are a place below in 12th.
