FC Khumaltar relegated, Friends Club escape relegation

FC Khumaltar became the first team to be relegated from the Qatar Airways Martyr's Memorial A Division League after a 2-0 defeat against API Power Church Boys United at ANFA Complex in Satdobato.

Sushil Shah in the 13th minute and Jospeh Owusu Bempah in the added minutes of first half gave Church Boys the win. Messouke Etiegnie Oloumou missed a first half penalty in the 25th minute.

The match was halted nearly over 30 minutes in the first half after FC Khumaltar players disputed referees decision to not awarded a penalty to them and not award Church Boys player with a yellow card.

Three officials--Buddhi Bahadur Gurung, Hari Bol Raut, Anjan Rana Chhetri-- and one player Manish Thapa were shown straight red after the melee.

Church Boys were also reduced to 10 players in the second half when their goalkeeper Guillaume Yves Priso Njanga was shown a second yellow card in the 48th minute.

Nepal Police Club defeated Royal Blue Satdobato Youth Club 1-0 at Chyasal Stadium and finished third in the league.

Ahmad Hijazi scored the only goal in the 21st minute of the game for Police.

Friends Club defeated APF Football Club 4-0 and secured their status in the A Division. In the match at Dasharath Stadium, Torric Jebrin, Bikash Thapa, Raifq Aminu and Akhrorbek Uktamov scored for Friends to escape relegation. Jebrin scored the team's first in the 15th minute before Thapa gave a 2-0 lead in the 31st. Aminu made it 3-0 in the 72nd minute before Uktamov completed victory in the 82nd.

Tribhuvan Army Football Club finished the league with a 1-0 win over Himalayan Sherpa Club. Sudil Rai scored the only goal of the game in the sixth minute of the game in Army's victory.

ANFA signs League title sponsorship with Qatar for two seasons

All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) and Qatar Airways have reached an agreement for the title sponsorship of Martyr's Memorial A Division League for 2023 and 2024 seasons.

The League will be renamed as Qatar Airways Martyr's Memorial A Division League after the signing of the agreement.

The partnership with Qatar Airways continues from the previous two seasons where the airlines signed a similar agreement with ANFA.

The partnership will see the Qatar Airways logo feature on all 14 League club shirts for the upcoming season, as well as providing brand awareness through perimeter boards, stadium flags, LED screens and online digital content as well as other activity.

Final squad for SAFF Championship announced

The final squad for SAFF Championship scheduled to begin from June 21 has been announced.

Head coach Vincenzo Alberto Annese announced his final squad for the regional championship on Thursday.

Nepal have been grouped alongside Kuwait, India and Pakistan for the championship. Nepal will play against Kuwait in the curtain raiser on June 21 followed by against India on June 24. Nepal will play their final group game against Pakistan on June 27.

Nepal are also scheduled to play against Philippines on June 15 as part of preparations for the championship.

ANFA, Saathi launch campaign to end violence against women and children

All Nepal Football Association and Saathi have jointly launched a campaign to end violence against women and children.

An agreement for the campaign 'Our Collective Goal: Ending Violence against Women and Children' was signed at ANFA Complex in Satdobato on Wednesday.

ANFA General Secretary Kiran Rai and Saathi Chairperson Sajani Amatya signed in the agreement. The agreement will be valid for the next three years.

The two sides have agreed to work in alliance against the violence against women and children. ANFA will help raise awareness against violence against women and children through footballers and various national and regional football competitions.

A banner with slogan against the violence will be displayed before every national and regional football tournaments. ANFA will also place running boards containing such slogans in the different tournament venues.

Saathi,  a non-governmental organization established in 1992, has been working to address the different forms of violence and discrimination faced by Nepali women and girls and help create a safe and violence-free society where women and children can live with respect and dignity.
