Nepali national team's head coach Abdullah Almutairi said the team was ready to take Jordan in the World Cup Asian Qualifiers match on Monday.

Abdullah said Jordan were superior than Nepal but would go into the field with an aim of winning the game. "Many have termed us underdogs holding no chance against Jordan but every matches start at 0-0 and the result depends on the performance on the field. Our aim from the start is going to win the game," coach said. "Our goal is to qualify for Asian Cup Qualifiers and we need win against Jordan for that."

"Everybody expect us to take three points but this is football and anything is possible. I saw Nepal playing against Chinese Taipei and Iraq and their quality and playing system has changed," coach Vital said.

He added they have to play on the field and if the playing level is good, they can achieve better result against Nepal.

To make a fair process, lucky draw will be done to divide the players into the academies on Sunday.

Players relish victory against Chinese Taipei

National team players expressed their delight following a comfortable victory against Chinese Taipei in the FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifiers on Thursday.

Speaking to ANFA Media, skipper Kiran Kumar Limbu said a new coach and a young team has injected high confidence and belief into the team. "New coach and new formation has created a high level of confidence among players. New players also impressed in the friendly against Iraq and yesterday's match against Chinese Taipei," said Limbu.

"We put on a fighting display against Iraq but the result didn't go our way. We are happy to win against Chinese Taipei but we still know we still have two matches to focus on," the captain added.

Goalscorer Anjan Bista said their target was to win against the Chinese Taipei team. "We were able to implement the strategy devised by our coach. We know Jordan and Australia are of high standards and we are going to prepare step-by-step for those matches," said Bista.

Bista scored through a penalty in the fourth minute and substitute Nawayug Shrestha added a second in the 81st minute to give Nepal a 2-0 victory against Chinese Taipei at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium in Ardhiyah, Kuwait. It was Bista's third goal against Chinese Taipei in the Qualifiers. He had also scored one goal against Iraq in a friendly at Basra on May 29.

Midfielder Pujan Uperkoti said the team was able to register the victory through team effort. "Our team spirit is high following the victory achieved through a joint team effort. But we have tough games against Jordan and Australia and hope to improve on our performance," said Uperkoti.

Nepal will now play against Jordan on June 7 and against Australia on June 11 in their remaining Qualifier matches.

Nepal secure comfortable victory against Chinese Taipei

Coach Abdullah Almutairi dedicated the victory to frontline health workers in Nepal as Nepal defeated Chinese Taipei 2-0 at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium in Kuwait on Thursday.

Anjan Bista opened the scoring in the fourth minute from the penalty spot after Chinese Taipei's player handled the ball inside the box. It was Bista's third goal against Chinese Taipei in the qualifiers having scored twice in the first round. He had also scored once against Iraq in a friendly in Basra on May 29.

Nepal were in control of the match for a majority of the time and held a superior possession of the ball in the game.

Nawayug Shrestha, coming in as a substitute in the 69th minute replacing Sunil Bal, added a second after some good cross from the left by Suman Aryal in the 81st minute. Bishal Rai's powerful strike in the final few minutes went straight into the goalkeeper.

Coach Almutairi also dedicated the victory to all Nepali people and his native country Kuwait and said winning the game was important for their ambition to qualify for the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers. "Early goal by Anjan helped us control the match. This is a result of hard work by the players and all the coaching staffs of the team," the coach said.

He once again asked for patience from the side. "This is only the start, we still have two matches to play."

Nepal will play against Jordan in the same venue on June 7.
