Men's team reduced to 28

Nepal men's national team head coach Abdullah Almutairi has reduced his preliminary squad to 28.

Bishal Sunar (GK), Randip Poudel, Bharat Khawash, George Prince Karki, Rajiv Lopchan, Sanjog Rai, Tridev Gurung, Rajin Dhimal, Sesehang Angdembe, and Bikram Lama have been left out of the squad that has been preparing for the SAFF Championship 2021.

Nepal is scheduled to host two friendly matches against India to finetune the championship in the Maldives.

The Dashrath Stadium will host India on September 2nd and 5th.

Team Nepal is currently in Pokhara for the preparatory training camp for the championship.

Newly-appointed referee director Goutam Kar arrives

Goutam Kar, the newly-appointed referee director of All Nepal Football Association has arrived on Monday.

ANFA President Karma Tshering Sherpa welcomed Kar at ANFA Complex. Kar will work in the position towards strengthening referees of all levels while also training match commissioners.

Indian citizen Kar, also a former FIFA referee, has over 40 years of experience in the field of refereeing. Having retired from refereeing in 1997, Kar began working as referee instructor and assessor. He has experience of working as referee director for over nine years in India and Bhutan. He has been credited for introducing professional referees program in India.

Kar has also garnered years of experience in the world of match operation. He is also an experienced match commissioner who can train for match commissioner duties.

He has been appointed to the post for one-year term.

Machhindra Club to run football academy in coordination with Peace Point School

League Champions Machhindra Club has signed a six year agreement with Peace Point Boarding School to run Machhindra Peace Point Youth Football Academy.

The two sides signed in an agreement at ANFA Complex in Satdobato on Sunday. With the agreement, Machhindra became the fifth civilian club to run the academy after Sankata Club, Satdobato Youth Club and New Road Team (NRT) and Manang Marsyangdi Club (MMC). Three departmental teams have also agreed to run academies.

Seven players from the club and seven from schools, totaling 14 players, will join the academy in the first year while the club will add seven more players in the second year taking the total number of players to 21. The players will train with the club while continuing their education in the school.

Machhindra's Chairperson Sunil Kapali and Peace Point Boarding School's Principal Ishu Gurung signed in the agreement.

ANFA Vice President and Grassroots and Youth Coordinator Upendra Man Singh signed in the agreement from ANFA.

ANFA President Karma Tshering Sherpa was also present in the signing ceremony.

Women's team squad reduced to 28

The national women's team squad has been reduced to 28 on Sunday.

Head coach Gary Phillips trimmed his squad to 28 from the 45 players called up for the closed camp. Eleven players have been released from the closed camp. Five of the remaining six players from Nepal Police Club had not attended the training session due to exams and the remaining one had tested positive for Covid-19.

The national women's team is preparing for the 2022 AFC Women's Asian Cup qualification. Nepal have been drawn alongside Philippines and Hong Kong in Group F for the tournament to be played in Uzbekistan.
