November 2, 2018 - The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) today honored Nepal U18 Women’s Football Team with cash reward of Rs. 50, 000 for their performance in the SAFF U18 Women’s Championship held in Thimpu, Bhutan from 28 September to 7 October. Nepal finished the championship as the runners-up. The Nepali team had gone to a 1-0 loss against Bangladesh in the final match that was played on October 7. Organizing a programme at the ANFA Complex, ANFA President Karma Tsering Sherpa and Member Secretary of the National Sports Council, ANFA General Secretary Indraman Tuladha, ANFA VP’s and other ANFA officials jointly distributed the cheque to the participating 23 players, 3 coaches and 1 physio. ANFA President Karma Tsering Sherpa said,” We are very happy and proud to felicitate the young women’s team.” “The historic performance of the girls in the AFC U19 Women’s 2019 Qualifiers has also inspired us to do more in Women’s Football. ANFA will definitely take the opportunity to honor the team very soon,” said Sherpa. In the qualifier, Nepal for the first time had qualified for the second qualifier as the group runners-up. Member Secretary of the NSC, Keshab Bista highly appreciated the team for their achievement in the SAFF and AFC Qualifiers. “It a proud moment for us as the team finish second in the SAFF and qualified for round 2 of the AFC Qualifiers. NSC will urge Nepal Government to felicitate the team as well.”

November 1, 2018 – Pakistan ousted Nepal 4-0 in the semifinal of the ongoing SAFF U15 Championship to set final date with Bangladesh in the SAFF U15 Championship 2018 held at ANFA Complex today. Bangladesh in the first semifinal match of the day sidelined India 4-2 on penalty shoot. Substitute MD ASHIKUR RAHMAN netted a fortunate late leveler for Bangladesh in a 1-1 regulation time draw against India. PATRE HARSH SHAILESH had put India into a first half lead. Team India was inspired by SHAILESH’s 17th minute 35 yard long ranger screamer. Bangladesh dominated the second half but could not find a way through a brave India defensive performance until the injury minutes. RAHMAN scored through penalty in stoppage time as Bangladesh came from behind to push the match into spot kick battle. In the penalty shootout, Bangladesh dramatically defeated India 4-2 as they enter the finals of the championship. Likewise in the other semifinal match, Pakistan defeated Nepal 4-0. Nepal defender JAAN LIMBU gifted Nepal with an own goal helped Pakistan lead in the match. LIMBU in the 54th minute directed the ball into the own post while blocking the cross of IFTIKHAR AHMED. MOHIB ULLAH scored two goals in 60th and 69th minute through penalty while MOIN AHMED in the 77th minute confirmed Pakistan’s spot in final against Bangladesh. Nepal was reduced to 10-man after JAAN LIMBU was flashed with red card for obvious tackle on goal to IFTIKHAR AHMED in the 58th minute.

October 29, 2018 – Nepal lose 1-2 against 10-man Bangladesh side as they find Pakistan as their semifinal opponent in the ongoing SAFF U15 Championship that is being held in Kathmandu. Meanwhile, India defeated Bhutan 4-0 in the first match of the day as India secure semis berth. Midfielder PAUL SHUBHO opened the firing for India in the 4th minute while SUBBA KUSHANG increased India’s lead in the 66th minute. PAUL scored his second and teams third goal later in the 83rd minute and XALXO AMAN’s 90th minute strike sealed India’s victory. In the heated second match 10-man Bangladesh snatched a shocking win over Nepal. Bangladesh took the lead quick after the kick off through MD IBNE AHAD SAKIL (2’). Bangladesh turned to 10-man when their Goalkeeper MITUL MARMA was shown a straight red card for a deliberate foul to RAKESH BISHOWKARMA. It was the first sent off in the championship. JAAN LIMBU from the spot leveled the score in the 36th minute but MD PAJON HOWLADAR (46’) wrapped the up the victory one minute from the interval. Nepal tried to respond again into the match with several attempts but failed in each opportunity. “With the advantage of 10-men and with the ball we caused Bangladesh a lot of problems, created chances and looked dangerous but fail in capitalizing,” said Nepal Head Coach Sanoj Shrestha in the post match meeting. Likewise, Bangladesh head coach, Mostafa Anowar Parvez lauded his players. Parvez said, “The team was made more complicated with the red card, it seemed harsh. But, hats off to the players for victory, because Nepal is a good team. “ The semifinal matches will be held on November 1.

October 25, 2018 – Nepal thrashed Maldives 4-0 while Pakistan defeated India 2-1 in the opening day of the SAFF U-15 Championship 2018 held today at the ANFA Complex. JAAN LIMBU, NAMAS THAPA MAGAR, SASHANK BOHORA and DIPESH RAI scored a goal each in Nepal’s victory over Maldives. Jaan Limbu helped Nepal take a lead first in the 28th minute through spot kick. Nepal was awarded the chance after Maldives defender NABUHAN MOHAMED fouled Rakesh Bishowkarma inside the box. Namas Thapa Magar then doubled the lead in the 38th minute. Confident young Nepal team grew dominant in the second half as they added two more goals against the Islanders. Sashank Bohora (63’) and Dipesh Rai (70’) netted each in after the interval as they also add their names in the score sheets. ADNAN JUSTIN and WASIF scored in each half to give Pakistan a deserving win over arch rivals India in the first match of the day. Justin finished off well with 30 minutes in the clock, while THLACHEU VANLALRUATFELA pulled one back for India in the 53rd minute of the match. Wasif then secured the victory for Pakistan in the 85th minute when he fired past Indian goalkeeper IRENGAM SANTOSH SINGH from a narrow angle. MUDASSAR NAZAR turned provider for the super sub Wasif, who entered the field in the 84th minute replacing MOHIN AHMED. Commenting about the match, Nepal Head Coach Sanoj Shrestha said, “Wining is always the priority but we need to keep improving better performances in the next matches.” Likewise Maldives coach said he was satisfied with the performance of his team. “As this is the first international tournament of my boys, I am satisfied with the performance though the result did not favor us.”
