KMC provides Rs. 1 million to Kathmandu based clubs

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has provided Rs. 1 million to each of the six Kathmandu-based top division clubs of Nepal. Mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya handed over the money to the clubs. "The money is provided to support the clubs financially. This is for the development of football in the country by assuring the clubs increase their funds," said Mayor Shakya. New Road Team (NRT), Machhinda Club, Saraswoti Youth Club (SYC), Himalayan Sherpa Club (HYC), Sankata Club and Manang Marshyandi (MMC) are the Kathmandu based teams that played the Martyr's Memorial 'A' Division League 2076. The event was also joined by Deputy Mayor Hariprabha Khadgi and Eknarayan Aryal, CEO of KMC.

SAFF Cup postponed to 2021

The SAFF Cup, initially scheduled for September 19-30, has been postponed to next year due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. The decision was taken on Monday at an online meeting of the South Asian Football Federation, with the General Secretaries of the football associations of Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Bhutan along with SAFF General Secretary Anwarul Huq present. Mr. Anwarul Huq, General Secretary of SAFF welcomed everyone and thanked them for their time. The respective General Secretaries gave their valuable insights regarding Covid-19 challenges and opinion regarding the competitions. Taking everything into account SAFF has decided to postpone SAFF Championship to 2021. In regards to the Youth Competitions it is been postponed till the next review meeting in early September when after reassessing the Covid-19 scenario a decision will be taken.

Raj Bahadur Singh no more

The All Nepal Football Association is saddened by the demise of legendary Raj Bahadur Singh. Singh, who represented and captained Nepal National Football Team in Aga Khan Gold Cup that was held in Dhaka, Bangladesh (East Pakistan then) in 1963 passed away on Friday night at the age of 88. Aga Khan Gold Cup is the first international tournament Nepal participated in. Singh was also the 7th Member Secretary of the National Sports Council (NSC). ANFA expresses its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prays for the eternal peace of the departed soul.

Fund Released to Clubs & DFA's

The All Nepal Football Association has released Rs Eighteen Lakh Seventy Five Thousand to its District Football Association (DFA) and clubs as the Covid-19 relief fund. After reviewing the received Assement Form from the thirteen DFA's and twelve club's the ANFA today has released the amount. Each DFA and club received Rs. 75, 000/- The ANFA also resquest all the remaining clubs and DFA's to submit their Assement Form inorder to claim the fund. The released fund is the operational fund by the FIFA to all its Member Assocation to help handle financial troubles impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
