Nepal crash out after India defeat

Nepal's SAFF Championship 2023 campaign came to a premature end when they lost 2-0 to hosts India in their second group match on Saturday.

Indian Skipper Sunil Chhetri put India ahead before Mahesh Singh Naorem added another to confirm Nepal's exit.

After a goalless first half where Nepal showed plenty of promises but failed to take the lead, Chhetri put India ahead in the 62nd minute. Eight minutes later Naorem doubled India's lead.

Nepal had lost to Kuwait by 3-1 in the opening match of the tournament on Wednesday. With Kuwati and India winning two matches each, Nepal's hope of progressing into the next round are all but over.

Nepal will now play against Pakistan on Tuesday at 3:45 pm.
