Army finish second, NRT third

Tribhuvan Army Football Club (TAFC) finished second in the Qatar Airways Martyr's Memorial 'A' Division League 2021/22 after playing a 1-1 draw against Manang Marsyangdi Club (MMC) on Saturday.

New Road Team (NRT) came from behind to defeat Nepal Police Club (NPC) 3-1 to claim third position in the league.

In the match played at Dasharath Stadium, TAFC, needing a point to finish second, went behind to Anjan Bista's goal in the 45th minute. But an own goal by Franklin Kuete Talla in the 76th rescued a point and second place for TAFC.

MMC finished in fifth place with similar 21 points to Satdobato Youth Club, who finished fourth, but inferior head-to-head difference.  

In the other match at ANFA Complex, Messouke Oloumou scored a hat-trick as NRT came from 1-0 down to defeat NPC 3-1. After falling back to Shiva Gurung's own goal, Messouke scored in the 47th, 62nd and 83rd minute to complete his hat-trick.

NPC concluded their campaign in 11th position. The final match of the league will be played between league winners Machhindra Football Club and APF Football Club.

Three Star rescue point against BBC; Jawalakhel, Sankata ends in draw

Three Star Club (TSC) rescued a point against relegated Brigade Boys Club (BBC) playing a 1-1 draw in their last match of the Qatar Airways Martyr's Memorial 'A' Division League 2021/22 on Friday. The other match between Jawalakhel Youth Club (JYC) and Sankata Club ended in 1-1 draw.

BBC had taken the lead through Prashant Tamang in the 57th minute but Dona Thapa scored in the fourth added minute of the game to rescue a point for TSC. TSC's goalkeeper  Guillaume Priso made key saves to deny BBC in the game at ANFA Complex.

The result means TSC finish their season in six position with 19 points. BBC, relegated to the second-tier, scored eight points.

In the other match at Dasharath Stadium, Sankata's Uttam Rai cancelled out JYC's Sunil Khadka's opener. Khadka had scored in the 14th minute to give JYC the lead but Sankata levelled in the 61st minute through Rai.

Sankata remain in seventh position with 16 points but can be overtaken by APF who have a game in hand. JYC are 10th in the table with 14 points.

Three games will be played in the final day of the league.

New Road Team will play against Nepal Police Club at ANFA Complex at 1 pm. At the same time, Tribhuvan Army Football Club will take on Manang Marsyangdi Club at Dasharath Stadium. Champions Machhindra Football Club will be looking to finish the season undefeated in their final match against APF Football Club at Dasharath Stadium at 4:30 pm.

40 players begin training for SAFF U-18 Championship

Nepali U-18 national women's team has begun training for the SAFF U-18 Women's Championship to be held in Jamshedpur, India from 15-25 March.

Head coach Darshan Bhakta Raj Lawat has called up 40 players in the initial squad. The closed camp at ANFA Complex in Satdobato began from February 21. Bhagwati Thapa has been named as the assistant coach while Shree Prakash Baidhya will be the goalkeeping coach for the team.

Three teams―Nepal, India and Bangladesh―are playing in the championship. The championship will be played in a double-round robin format with the team with highest point become the champion.

Satdobato conclude league campaign with win over Chyasal; Friends, Sherpa draw

Satdobato Youth Club (SYC) concluded their impressive debut top-tier league campaign with a 1-0 win over relegated Chyasal Youth Club (CYC) while Friends Club and Himalayan Sherpa Club (HSC) shared points after 1-1 draw in the Qatar Airways Martyr's Memorial 'A' Division League 2021/22 on Thursday.

Martins Ajayi scored the only goal of the match played at ANFA Complex in Satdobato. Ajayi scored just six minutes into the game to cap a memorable season for SYC.

Promoted into the top-tier for the first time in their history, SYC finished their season with 21 points including six wins and three draws. SYC are currently into third position but their final position in the table depends on the result of matches elsewhere.

CYC, meanwhile, finished at the bottom of the table with just six points.

In the other match played at Dasharath Stadium, Bhison Gurung scored one minute from time to snatch a point for HSC against Friends. Friends had taken the lead through an own goal from Diwash Urau in the 74th minute.

Friends finish on 12th in the table while HSC are 9th.

Jawalakhel Youth Club will play against Sankata Club at the Dasharath Stadium on Friday while Brigade Boys Club take on Three Star Club at ANFA Complex. Both the matches will kick-off at 1 pm.
