Police, APF play dull 1-1 draw

Nepal Police Club (NPC) and APF Football Club (APF) played a 1-1 draw in the Qatar Airways Martyr's Memorial 'A' Division League 2021/22 on Tuesday.

NPC scored the fastest goal of the league after just 23 seconds only for APF to score the leveler late in the first half.

Suman Lama scored capitalizing on a mistake by Adama Doumbia whose poor clearance fell straight to Lama. With APF goalkeeper Yuya Kuriyama also rushing towards the ball, Lama scored into an open net to give the lead.

Pradip Lama levelled for APF in the 41st minute with NPC's goalie Satrughan Chaudhary conceding a soft goal in the process.

APF's head coach Kumar Thapa said he was not happy with how his players approached the match today. "I am not happy with the defensive and offensive approach by my players. We should not have played like today, it was worst performance by us so far in the league. I think my players took the game lightly after escape from relegation," said Thapa.

NPC's head coach Ananta Raj Thapa said it was a tough match for both the sides. "We scored early but conceded later on. It was a good game but a tough one," said Thapa.

Both the teams are unmoved from their previous position in the table after the draw.

Brigade Boys down after Satdobato loss

Brigade Boys Club (BBC) have been relegated to the second division after losing 3-2 to Satdobato Youth Club (SYC) in the Qatar Airways Martyr's Memorial 'A' Division League 2021/22 on Monday.

BBC have seven points and a victory in their last game won't move them up the table due to inferior head-to-head difference against Friends Club. Friends had defeated BBC 5-2 in the league.

It was an entertaining match at Dasharath Stadium with BBC twice coming from behind to level the score. SYC took the lead through Sushil Rai in the 13th minute only for BBC to equalize in the 16th through Bertrand Ottou.

SYC retook the lead through Dipak Raj Singh Thakuri in the 18th minute before BBC levelled it again in the 51st through Roshan Rana Magar.

But Niraj Chaudhary scored three minutes from time to give SYC the victory and move them to fifth in the table.

SYC's head coach Megh Raj KC said he was sad for BBC's relegation to the second tier. "I won't say I am happy because a club which I had managed in the past is relegated today. Yes we play for win in matches but the victory was a bittersweet moment for me," said KC who played for BBC when they were promoted to A division in 2061 BS.

BBC's head coach Sanoj Shrestha said they knew only a victory would have kept their chances alive. "We tried our best, we twice came from behind but it was not going to be for us. Our mistake I think was we were weak financially and invested in youths. We also lacked consistency in the league," said Shrestha.

The first match on Tuesday will be a departmental derby between Nepal Police Club and APF Football Club. Tribhuvan Army Football Club will play Sankata Club in the second match. Both the matches will be played at Dasharath Stadium.

Jawalakhel breathe sigh of relief, NRT move to second with Manang win

Jawalakhel Youth Club (JYC) defeated Himalayan Sherpa Club (HSC) 2-1 to breathe a sigh of relief but still have to wait for the result of other games in their hopes for survival while Manang Marsyangdi Club's (MMC) hopes to finish second in the table took a severe blow after losing 1-0 to New Road Team in the Qatar Airways Martyr's Memorial 'A' Division League 2021/22 on Sunday.

In the first match at Dasharath Stadium, Rup Bahadur Lama and Onguna Junior scored for HSC in the win. Lama opened the scoring in the 15th minute but after Amrit Shrestha levelled in the 71st minute, Junior secured all three points two minutes from time.

The victory means JYC now have 13 points and have a game to play. A point in their last game against Sankata Club will ensure their A division status.

In the second game of the day, MMC suffered their second consecutive defeat in the league after going down 1-0 to NRT.

NRT jumped to second in the table after the victory ensured by Messouke Oloumou's goal in the 26th minute. NRT and MMC both have 20 points but NRT are ahead by virtue of better head-to-head difference.

The defeat also severely dashed MMC's hopes to finish second in the table. They now have 20 points after 12 games and can also be overtaken by Tribhuvan Army Football Club, on 19 points, who face Sankata Club on Tuesday.

The only match on Monday will be played between Brigade Boys Club vs Satdobato Youth Club.
