ANFA bids farewell to U-17 national women's team

All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has bid farewell to the U-17 national women's team flying to Jordan for the 2024 AFC U-17 Women's Asian Cup Qualifiers from April 26-30.

Former ANFA President and Honorary ANFA President Narendra Shrestha, ANFA President Pankaj Bikram Nembang, Vice President Dawa Lama, General Secretary Kiran Rai, Ex-Co members Sarila Shrestha Maleku and Manish Joshi, Assistant General Secretary Damodar Bhattarai, Assistant Treasurer Purna Man Chitrakar were present in the farewell programme organized at ANFA Complex in Satdobato.

Nepal are grouped against hosts Jordan and Iran in Group H of the tournament. Nepal will play its first match against Iran on April 26 followed against game against Jordan on April 28.

Manang woes continues; Machhindra, Jawalakhel register wins

Manang Marsyangdi Club's poor run of form continued with a 2-1 defeat against FC Khumaltar in the Martyr's Memorial A Division League 2023 on Saturday.

Messouke Oloumou scored both the goals in the afternoon match at Dasharath Stadium.

Oloumou gave Khumaltar the lead in the 13th minute before Koffi Timothee Koudo levelled in the 53rd. Koudo could have given Manang the lead through the penalty kick in the 61st but missed. Oloumou then scored in the added minutes of the game to give Khumaltar the victory.

In the other afternoon match at Chyasal Stadium, Machhindra Football Club defeated Friends Club 2-1. Machhidra's Bhutanese forward Chencho Gyeltshen scored his first league goal in the 45st minute of the game to give Machhindra a 1-0 at the break. Devendra Tamang doubled the advantage in the 63rd minute before Rafiq Aminu scored in the 76th minute to halve the deficit.  

In the final match of the day, an error from Church Boys United goalkeeper Priso Njanga gave Jawalakhel Youth Club a 1-0 victory and helped them to a five points lead at the top.

Goalkeeper Priso was well-positioned to make a comfortable save from Nkoto Synous Masoabi's shot but spilled the ball which rolled into the net in the 66th minute. The victory meant Jawalakhel conflicted Church Boys to their first defeat of the ongoing league.

NRT defeat APF; Army, Police derby ends goalless

New Road Team defeated APF Football Club 1-0 in the Martyr's Memorial A Division League 2023 on Friday.

In the match at Chyasal Stadium, Sanjeeb Bista scored the only goal for NRT in the 79th minute. Earlier, Awas Lamichhane missed a penalty in the first half to give APF the lead in the match.

The match turned ugly towards the end when players from both the sides squared up with NRT's Aashish Rai receiving a red card in the added minutes of the game.

The other game between departmental rivals Nepal Police Club and Tribhuvan Army Football Club ended goalless. It was an uneventful stalemate between the two sides.

Three Star defeat Himalayan Sherpa, Church Boys win against Satdobato

Three Star Club defeated Himalayan Sherpa Club 1-0 in the Martyr's Memorial A Division League 2023 on Thursday.

Laken Limbu's only goal of the game in the 14th minute secured the win for Three Star at ANFA Complex in Satdobato.

The other match between Church Boys United and Royal Blue Satdobato Youth Club ended with Church Boys securing a 2-1 win.

Aashish Chaudhary's goal in the seventh minute for Church Boys was cancelled out by Satdobato's Niraj Chaudhary in the 34th minute but Milan Rai's goal one minute from restart gave Church Boys the win at Dasharath Stadium.
