Manang slump continues as rain halts three matches

Jawalakhel Youth Club will stay in the top of the table for the first half of the Martyr's Memorial A Division League after playing out a 1-1 draw against Sankata Club in rain-affected match on Sunday.

The match, originally scheduled for Saturday at Chyasal Stadium was halted in the fifth minute of the second half due to heavy rainfall. Jawalakhel Club was leading the match through Fode Fofana's 34th minute strike when it had to be rescheduled for Sunday.

The remaining minutes of the match was played at ANFA Complex in Satdobato and Sankata levelled the match through Nishan Khadka in the 73rd minute.

Another match between Himalayan Sherpa Club and Tribhuvan Army Football Club, on Saturday, was also affected by the rain at Dasharath Stadium. Army was leading 1-0 through Nawayug Shrestha's first minute strike when rain came down heavily in the 27th minute of the second half. The remaining minutes were played at Dasharath Stadium on Sunday and Sherpa shared points through Bishwash Shrestha's goal in the 55th minute.

Manang Marsyangdi Club suffered their sixth loss after a 3-0 defeat to Church Boys United. The match too was affected by rain and rescheduled for Sunday from Saturday.

Ananta Tamang headed in Church Boys first goal in the 41st minute in the rescheduled match at ANFA Complex. Mausham Subba doubled the lead in the 55th and Saimon Limbu added a third in the added minute of the game.

Three Star miss chance to go top after shock NRT loss

Three Star Club missed the chance to finish the first half of the Martyr's Memorial A Division League at the top of the table after losing 1-0 to New Road Team at ANFA Complex on Friday.

In the only game of the day, NRT scored through Sanjeeb Bista in the 37th minute.

Earlier, Santosh Sahukhala missed a glorious opportunity to give Three Star the lead when he shot his penalty wide off the bar in the 26th minute. Three Star were given the penalty after Peter Segun was brought down in the box following his marching run from inside his own half.

The loss means Three Star will stay in the second place of the table with 22 points. NRT are eighth with 16 points.

Friends share points with APF, Police win again

Friends Club shared points with APF Football Club after playing a 1-1 draw as the 13th round of Martyr's Memorial A Division League 2023 began from Thursday.

Pradip Lama's opening goal in the 27th minute for APF was cancelled out by Rafiq Aminu in the 52nd minute at ANFA Complex.

Nepal Police Club continued their resurgence with a 3-1 win over FC Khumaltar at Dasharath Stadium.

Police's new foreign recruit Ahmad Hijazi gave them the lead in the 27th minute. Messouke Oloumou levelled the game in the 54th minute for Khumaltar but Moses Gyabaah Twum's 84th minute strike and Hijazi second goal of the game in the added minutes of the game completed the win for Police.

Police, however, lie at the bottom of the table with 12 points from 13 games.

Satdobato thump Sankata, Sherpa defeat Jawalakhel

Royal Blue Satdobato Youth Club scored four goals to defeat Sankata Club in the Martyr's Memorial A Division League 2023 on Wednesday.

William Opoku Asiedu opened the scoring for Satdobato in the 10th minute of the game at Chyasal Stadium. He doubled the lead nine minutes later. Another brace from Dipak Raj Singh Thakuri, first of which came in the 68th and second in the 82nd minute completed the victory for Satdobato.

In another match of the day at Dasharath Stadium, Jawalakhel Youth Club failed to strengthen their lead at the top with a 2-1 defeat to Himalayan Sherpa Club. Pistone Vunyoli Mutamba scored twice to give Sherpa the win.

Mutamba scored his first in the 10th minute and second in the 19th minute for Sherpa. Nkoto Synous Masoabi pulled one back in the 72nd minute and Jawalakhel were on top in majority of the second half but failed to find the equalizer.

The eagerly anticipated clash between Three Star Club and defending champions Machhindra Football Club at Dasharath Stadium ended goalless.
