80 players called up for national U-20 men’s team initial camp

Eighty players have been called up for the initial camp of the Nepal U-20 men’s national team. The list was announced on Sunday by head coach Urjan Shrestha, who will lead the team in the upcoming SAFF U-20 Championship, scheduled to be held in the Maldives from March 23 to April 4.

Nepal has been drawn in Group A of the tournament alongside Maldives, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka, while Group B will feature India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. Following the group stage, the top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.

Nepal U-20 women’s team stages comeback to beat China Yunnan U-20 3–1

Nepal U-20 Women’s National Team staged a thrilling comeback to defeat China Yunnan U-20 3–1 in a friendly match held at Dasharath Stadium, Tripureshwor on the occasion of the Chinese New Year.

This friendly match, which has been organized annually for the past three years, was previously contested by the men’s teams. This is the first time the Nepal U-20 Women’s team participated in the event.

China Yunnan took the lead in the 41st minute through Shi Xiaoting, but Nepal mounted a strong second-half response. The goals for Nepal were scored by Sukriya Miya (84’), Birsana Chaudhary (87’), and Sajani Syangtan (90+5’), securing a 3–1 victory for the hosts.

The match was inaugurated by Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens, Shraddha Shrestha, and the opening ceremony was attended by Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Loknath Paudel, National Sports Council member Ramcharitra Mehta, ANFA General Secretary Kiran Rai, and senior officials from the Chinese Embassy in Nepal.

Ahead of kickoff, cultural performances reflecting the diversity of Nepal and China were presented, adding a festive atmosphere to the friendly encounter.

SAFF U-19 Women’s Championship kicks off in Pokhara

The SAFF U-19 Women’s Championship began today at the Pokhara Stadium in Pokhara.

The tournament was inaugurated by All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) President Pankaj Bikram Nembang. The opening ceremony was also attended by SAFF Vice President Sundar Narsing Joshi, SAFF General Secretary Purusotam Kattel, and ANFA Vice President Dawa Lama.

Two matches were played on the opening day of the championship. In the opening match, Bangladesh recorded a convincing 12–0 victory over Bhutan. In the second match, India defeated Nepal 1–0, with Pearl Fernandes scoring the only goal of the match.

Nepal put up a competitive performance but could not find the equaliser. Nepal will face Bhutan in their next match on Monday as the championship continues in Pokhara.

National League 2082 kicks off with grand ceremony at Dasharath Stadium

The National League 2082 officially began with a grand opening ceremony at the Dasharath Stadium.

Minister for Youth and Sports, Bablu Gupta, handed over the match ball to the officials, formally marking the start of the tournament.

The opening match saw Machhindra FC edge NRT 1–0 thanks to a stunning goal from Alik Shrestha in the 63rd minute.

Ahead of the match, fans were treated to a musical performance by Sajjan Raj Vaidya, adding to the festive atmosphere of the tournament launch.
