Former footballer and coach Hari Om Shrestha has passed away following a heart attack. He suffered the cardiac arrest during the Budha Subba Gold Cup in Dharan a few days ago.

Shrestha, who had traveled to Dharan as the head coach of the NRT team for the tournament, received initial treatment there before being transferred to Kathmandu for further medical care. He was admitted to Gangalal Hospital, where his condition showed signs of improvement, leading to his discharge on Friday.

However, his health suddenly deteriorated on Saturday morning, and he was rushed to Bir Hospital, where he passed away during treatment.

Shrestha, aged 55, had an extensive coaching career at both club and youth levels. He coached Nepal’s age-group teams and managed several ‘A’ Division clubs.

His final rites are scheduled to be performed today.
