Nepal secured their spot in the semi-finals of the 2024 SAFF Women’s Championship with a commanding 6-0 victory over Sri Lanka, finishing top of Group B.
The win came just in time, as Nepal needed at least six goals after Bhutan's dominant 13-0 thrashing of the Maldives to clinch the group’s top position.
Rekha Poudel was once again in fine form, scoring a brace, while Sabita Rana Magar, Amisha Karki, and Rashmi Kumari Ghising each added a goal.
The returning Sabitra Bhandari, who had missed Nepal’s previous matches against Bhutan and the Maldives, also got on the score sheet, making it 6-0.
With this dominant performance, Nepal now moves on to face India in the semi-finals, scheduled for Sunday evening.
