Machhindra drop points in feisty draw against Sankata

Machhindra Football Club (MFC) dropped points after a goalless draw against Sankata Club (SC) but stayed in top of the table in the Qatar Airways Martyr's Memorial 'A' Division League 2021/22 on Friday.

MFC now have one point advantage over Manang Marsyangdi Club (MMC) but the latter have one game in hand. MMC play Nepal Police Club (NPC) in their fifth round at Pokhara Stadium on Saturday.

It was a feisty encounter between the two sides at the Dasharath Stadium. MFC thought they had taken the lead in the 61st minute but was ruled offside sparking a protest by club official against the match officials.

MFC's coach Prabesh Katuwal said following Tribhuvan Army Football Club (TAFC) draw in the earlier match today, they had no option but to win in today's match. "But our performance was not as par as compared to our last match. Also the decisions by some officials were also controversial," Katuwal said referring to the goal that was ruled offiside.

SC's Bishnu Gurung said his players are improving in every match in the league and dominated in both halves in today's match. "We played well against the defending champions, dominated against them but could not score," said Gurung.

Chyasal Youth Club (CYC) will play against Jawalakhel Youth Club (JYC) in the first match at 1 pm in Dasharath Stadium on Saturday. The second match of the day will be played between MMC and NPC in Pokhara at 2 pm while Three Star Club will take on New Road Team (NRT) in the third match at 4:45 pm, also in Dasharath Stadium.

Satdobato hold Tribhuvan Army to 1-1 draw

Tribhuvan Army Football Club (TAFC) were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw against Satdobato Youth Club (SYC) in the Qatar Airways Martyr's Memorial 'A' Division League 2021/22 on Friday.

TAFC had taken the lead in the 10th minute through Dinesh Henjan but SYC bounced back with a 16th minute strike through Martins Ajayi. Ajayi is now the highest goalscorer in the league with four goals.

TAFC's coach Nabin Neupane said they needed all three points from the game but had to be content with just a single point. "We scored first but could not hold on to the lead and conceded. They played good today. We were not up to our potential," said Neupane.

SYC's coach Meghraj KC said his team lacks experience and maturity to play in the top-tier. "Our performance shows we lack experience. We are playing in one level but we lack the maturity to play," said KC.
