Martyr’s Memorial B Division League to kick off on January 26

The much-anticipated Martyr’s Memorial B Division League is set to begin on January 26 (Magh 13, 2081). This decision was finalized during a crucial meeting between the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) and participating clubs held on Thursday.

To facilitate smooth preparations and maintain the league’s standards, ANFA and the participating clubs have agreed to a clear and strict timeline leading up to the tournament.

According to the schedule, club registrations must be completed by December 6 (Mangsir 21). Following this, a FIFA Connect Workshop will be held on December 8 and 9 (Mangsir 23 and 24) to familiarize clubs with FIFA’s digital player registration system. Additionally, a Club Licensing Workshop is set for December 10 and 11 (Mangsir 25 and 26), ensuring all teams meet the necessary standards and criteria.

The fixtures of the tournament will be drawn on December 28 (Poush 13) with the tournament beginning from January 26.

SAFF Competition Safeguarding Seminar 2024 Successfully Concludes in Colombo

SAFF hosted its highly impactful Competition Safeguarding Seminar 2024 on November 19-20 at the NH Collection Colombo. Designed to enhance safeguarding practices across South Asian football, the seminar brought together safeguarding officers and representatives from all seven member associations, alongside FIFA and AFC experts.

The two-day event included sessions on developing, reviewing, and implementing safeguarding protocols, ensuring participants were equipped with the tools and knowledge to create safer environments in football competitions. Highlights of the seminar included:

Day 1 included Workshops led by Octavian Bivolaru, FIFA’s Senior  Manager Special Projects & Case Liaison, and Fatima Esha, SAFF Safeguarding Officer, focused on crafting comprehensive safeguarding protocols and methods for their continuous improvement.

While Day 2 had a focus on Practical implementation at a local stadium demonstrated routine safeguarding checks, scenario-based training for responding to incidents, and interactive sessions on safeguarding practices tailored for players.

The seminar concluded with a certificate ceremony and closing remarks by esteemed speakers, including Octavian Bivolaru (FIFA), Victoria Koh (AFC Safeguarding Manager), Neil Sta Maria (AFC Social Responsibility Manager), and Asif Ansar (Deputy General Secretary of FFSL). Tokens of appreciation were presented to FIFA, AFC, and FFSL for their contributions to advancing safeguarding efforts in the region.

A special moment marked the soft launch of SAFF’s Dream Asia “Kick Off” initiative, aimed at promoting inclusivity and safeguarding in South Asian football. The exclusive screening of this project underscored SAFF’s ongoing commitment to fostering safe and inclusive football environments.

Nepal defeat Afghanistan 2-0

Nepal secured a 2-0 victory over Afghanistan in an international friendly match in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on Saturday.

Gillespie Jung Karki and Rohit Chand scored the goals to give Nepal a solid win.

Gillespye put Nepal ahead early in the second half after a goalless first half. Nepal held firm after taking the lead and Rohit Chand sealed the victory in the 78th minute collecting a clearing header from Afghanistan's defense following a corner kick.  

Kiran Chemjong's dive in the final few minutes preserved the 2-0 scoreline and gave Nepal the victory.

Nepal had lost 4-0 to Tajikistan in the first friendly on Wednesday.

The team will now return home and prepare for the third round of the Asian Cup qualifiers in March 2025, with the group division draw scheduled for December.

Nepal lose to Tajikistan in international friendly

Nepal men's national team lost 4-0 to Tajikistan in the international friendly in Dushanbe on Wednesday.

Doubles from Dhzalilov Alisher and Mabatshoev Shervoni helped Tajikistan to the win at Dushanbe Central Stadium.

Midfielder Rohan Karki and Nirajan Dhami debuted for the senior side in the friendly.

Head coach Nabin Neupane named Karki in the starting lineup and Dhami replaced Gillespye Jung Karki in the 74th minute.

Nepal will now play against Afghanistan on Saturday.
