Nepal to play friendlies against Mauritius

National men's football team will play two friendly matches against Mauritius national team on January 29 and February 1 next year.

The friendlies against the island nation, ranked 172 in FIFA ranking, will be played at Dasharath Stadium. Both the friendlies fall under the FIFA international match calendar dates.

The last time Dasharath Stadium hosted friendlies was against India on September 2 and 5 this year. Nepal drew the first match and lost the second one.

The national team last played in the final of the SAFF Championship on October 16 going down 3-0 against India. It was the first time Nepal had reached the final of the regional competition.

Jawalakhel move three points clear of relegation zone after victory over Satdobato

Jawalakhel Youth Club (JYC) defeated Satdobato Youth Club (SYC) 2-0 in the Qatar Airways Martyr's Memorial 'A' Division League 2021/22 and moved three points clear of the relegation zone on Monday.

Bipin Kandel and Nicholas Fernandes scored for JYC in their win at Dasharath Stadium.

Substitute Kandel opened the scoring in the 50th minute and Fernandes doubled the lead in the 70th taking advantage of opposition stopper Abhishek Baral's mistake.

JYC moved up to ninth in the table with seven points while Satdobato Youth Club are fifth with eight.

JYC's head coach Kishor KC thanked his players for the effort and the win. "We can put a fight against any teams in the league. Today's win has improved our position in the table and given us a big boost," said KC. He added that SYC gave them a fair challenge but they triumphed in scoring front.

SYC's coach Megh Raj KC said the team could not maintain their playing level like previous matches. "My players might have taken Jawalakhel lightly given their struggles and they were also below us in the table. They played like amateurs," he said. He said they will try to improve their performance in coming matches.

With the conclusion of the match, the sixth round of the league also came to an end. Machhindra Football Club are top of the table after their 1-0 triumph over second-placed Manang Marsyangdi Club.

The seventh round of matches will begin from December 31.

Tribhuvan Army settle for a draw with Three Star

Three Star Club (TSC) dropped more points after a goalless draw with Tribhuvan Army Football Club (TAFC) in the Qatar Airways Martyr's Memorial 'A' Division League 2021/22 on Sunday.

TSC now have played four draws from six matches and have not won since their opening 3-0 victory against Chyasal Youth Club.

In the match at Dasharath Stadium, TAFC were a more dominant side but were unable to secure all three points. The department side now has 10 points from six matches and lies fourth.

TAFC's coach Nabin Neupane said his team had to drop points after lacking the finishing the touch. "We dominated, created chances but could not finish them. We now have dropped points in the last two matches," he said.

TSC's Urjan Shrestha said they too had striking problems with the team. "We have not scored in the last four matches. We hope to add a new striker which we hope will solve our scoring woes," Shrestha said.

Satdobato Youth Club will play Jawalakhel Youth Club at 1 pm in Dasharath Stadium in the only game on Monday.

Sankata move to third with 3-0 victory over Brigade Boys

Sankata Club registered a comfortable 3-0 victory over Brigade Boys Club and moved to third in the table of the Qatar Airways Martyr's Memorial 'A' Division League 2021/22 on Sunday.

Uttam Rai scored twice and Laxman Ruchal also scored another in Sankata's win. Rai scored his first in the 13th minute before doubling in the 28th. Ruchal scored in the 38th minute when the ball fell into his feet following a poor clearance by BBC's defender.

BBC, meanwhile, are 11th with five points from six matches.

Sankata's head coach Bishnu Gurung said it was a comfortable victory for the team. "They were missing key players which made the job easy for us. After a comfortable lead, we decided to hold our position in the final few minutes of the game," he said.

BBC's Sanoj Shrestha said defensive errors lead to Sankata's goal. "Defensive errors and the goals changed the momentum. We are now under pressure for results," said Shrestha while also adding that their next game against Manang Marsyangdi Club in Pokhara was now going to be difficult.

Three Star Club will play against Tribhuvan Army Football Club in the second match of the day on Sunday.
