Dhangadhi thrash Waling; Nepal Police, Lalitpur register wins

Dhangadhi sub-Metropolitan City thrashing Waling Municipality Syangja 6-0 in the National Women's League 2078 on Friday.

In other games, Nepal Police Club defeated Biratnagar Metropolitan City 2-0 and Lalitpur Metropolitan City won Chandrapur Municipality Rautahat 1-0.

Chandra Bhandari scored four and Sima Rawal and Anjana Thulung Rai scored one each for Dhangadhi.

Rawal opened the scoring in the 10th minute and Bhandari added a second in the 30th. She scored her second five mintues later and completed her hat-trick in the 47th minute. After Anjana scored in the 70th, Bhandari added team's sixth and her fourth in the 83rd minute.

In the second match of the day, Lalitpur edged Rautahat with Bisnu Sambahamfe scoring the only goal in the fifth minute of added time. Bisnu scored the only goal in the

Nirmala Upadhyay double saw Nepal Police defeat Biratnagar 2-0 in the third match of the day. Upadhyay scored in the 25th and 33rd minute in the win.

The first round of matches of the league has completed. The second round matches begins from Sunday.

Shree Bhagawati coach banned for three matches, club fined 50k

Head coach of Shree Bhagawati Club Sailesh Karmacharya has been banned for the club's upcoming three matches for his role in the manhandling of officials during their match against Bansbari Club. The club has also been fined Rs 50,000.

Following a 2-1 loss, Shree Bhagawati officials ran to the pitch and manhandled referee Suman Shrestha. Security officials had to be called into the pitch to calm the situation.

Club officials team manager Dipendra Dangol, Rajaram Shrestha, Bikram Dangol have been banned from the club's remaining matches of the league.

The officials had manhandled the referee and the security officials after the team's loss.

ANFA Secretariat can also recommend the Disciplinary Committee to decide on any further actions against the club.

Nepal lose to Thailand in friendly

Nepal put on a valiant defensive display but went down 2-0 against Thailand after late goals in an international friendly on Thursday.

Nepal had held Thailand to a goalless draw in the first half despite Thailand maintaining superior ball possession throughout the game.

Philip Roller's 78th minute strike gave Thailand the lead which was doubled by Chaowat Weerachart in the 89th minute.

Prashant Awasthi made debut for the Nepali side in the game. Awasthi was also called up in the national side for the friendlies against Mauritius. He replaced Darshan Gurung for the debut.

Nepal will now play another friendly against Chonburi FC on March 27.

APF defeat Army in National Women's League opener

APF Football Club defeated Tribhuvan Army Football Club 2-1 in the opening match of the National Women's League 2078 at Sharadanagar Football ground in Bharatpur, Chitwan on Thursday.

Army had taken the lead through a penalty in the 52nd through Rashmi Ghiring minute but Renuka Nagarkote and Anita Basnet completed the comeback for the defending champions.

Nagarkote scored the team's first in the 57th minute and Basnet completed the victory in the 82nd.

Claiming foul in the goal, Army players walked off the pitch and the match was halted for nearly 10 minutes following APF's second goal. The match eventually restarted.

Sabitra Bhandari made her comeback to football after lengthy injury layoff replacing Rabina Gole in the 60th and was lively through the match.
