Players brief ANFA over leaving camp, Players Association demands investigation

Players who left the national team training camp briefed All Nepal Football Association over the chain of events that unfolded on the day they left the camp.

Submitting a memorandum to ANFA General Secretary Indraman Tuladhar, players claimed them leaving the national team camp was not a willful action. They claimed they were asked to leave the camp and had informed the team officials about it.

Meanwhile, the ANFA Players Association has demanded proper investigation into the matter. Association President Bikram Lama also submitted a memorandum to General Secretary Tuladhar and urged the matter be prioritized and resolved as soon as possible.

National team coach hurt by players leaving camp but forgives them

Head coach of national men's team Abdullah Almutairi has said he has been hurt by the recent development involving national team players but said he has forgave them for their remarks against him.

In a letter to ANFA General Secretary Indraman Tuladhar, coach Abdullah said the allegation made by the players was a result of young blood that led to uncomfortable situation. "I as a guarding of all players of the national team can understand the impulse of young blood that led to an uncomforatable situation. Please understand that the unilateral action of players has hurt me deeply because I have always had the best interest of the national football in my heart," coach Abdullah said in the letter.

He said he believed the team had made significant progress and wants to continue.

Abdullah also requested the association not to punish the players and said he decided to exclude them for the best interest and the performance of the team.

He said it was his responsibility to choose the best possible combination for the team and takes full responsibility for the performance of the team in the AFC Asian Cup 2023 Qualifiers.

17 players called up for national team closed camp

Seventeen new players have been called up to the national team closed camp from Thursday.

National football team head coach Abdullah Almutairi has called up 17 players to the team in preparation for the AFC Asian Cup 2023 Qualifiers.

Nepal will play its first game of the Qualifiers against Jordan on June 8 followed by against Kuwait on June 11. The final game against Indonesia will be played on June 14.

Pema Dolma Lama wins Women's Association presidential election

Pema Dolma Lama became the President of ANFA Women's Association after claiming victory in the elections held at ANFA Complex on Tuesday.

Lama defeated her only rival Bimala Poudel to claim victory. Of the total 42 votes, Lama secured 36 to Poudel's six.

Pramila Singh Shrestha, Luna Pradhan and Kamala Hirachan Thakali won the vice president positions. Shrestha secured 38 votes, Pradhan received 35 and Hirachan won 34 votes. Another vice presidential candidate Rama Bhattarai won seven votes.

The election committee declared seven members as unanimous after only seven candidates vied for the position. Brinda Dewan, Dipa Chhetri, Sarila Shrestha Maleku, Saraswoti Shrestha, Lila Maya Thapa, Chandra Bhandari and Bina Shrestha became the members of the association.

A minute silence was held to mourn the death of former Nepali international and former assistant treasurer of Women's Association Nandakala Thapa who passed away on Monday night.
