Nepal into second round after 2-1 aggregate win over Laos

Nepal marched into the second round of World Cup Qualifiers first round after an aggregate 2-1 win over Laos over two legs.

Manish Dangi scored the only goal for Nepal in the 53rd minute to secure the aggregate win. Dangi latched a pass from Anjan Bista with his left leg for the goal.

The two sides had played a 1-1 draw in the first leg at Dasharath Stadium.

Nepal will now face UAE, Bahrain and Yemen in Group H of the second round. The second round matches will be played in home-and-away format between November 2023 and June 2024.

The team will return home on Wednesday.

ANFA to reward players with Rs 51,000 each

Players of the men's football team will be rewarded with Rs 51,000 each for making to the second round of World Cup qualifiers.

ANFA President Pankaj Bikram Nembang announced the decision to reward the players upon their arrival from Laos on Wednesday night.

Nepal defeated Laos with an aggregate score of 2-1 in the first round. The first leg at Dasharath Stadium ended in 1-1 draw while Nepal won the second leg 1-0 in Laos.

Nepal will now face UAE, Bahrain and Yemen in Group H of the second round. The second round matches will be played in home-and-away format between November 2023 and June 2024.

ANFA Community Coaching Course begins

The five-day ANFA Community Coaching Course has begun in Army Physical Training and Sports Centre in Lagankhel from Monday.

ANFA President Pankaj Bikram Nembang and Nepal Army Army Physical Training and Sports Centre Acting Commandant Lieutenant Colonel Brajesh Maharjan and Major Bikas Malla were present in the opening ceremony at Lagankhel.

Thirty participants are taking part in the course which is being instructed by ANFA's Head of Coach Education Sanjeet Singh and assistant instructor Chet Narayan Shrestha.

National team off to Laos for second leg match

National men's football team has left for Laos on Friday for the second leg match of the World Cup Qualifiers preliminary round.

The second leg match will be played on October 17.

The first leg match between the two sides ended in 1-1 draw with Anjan Bista scoring the goal for Nepal at Dasharath Stadium.
