Preparations Complete for SAFF Women's Championship

Preparations for the SAFF Women's Championship 2024, scheduled from October 17-30 at Dasharath Stadium, have been finalized.

A press conference was held at the ANFA Complex in Satdobato to announce the completion of these preparations. ANFA Deputy General Secretary Arunman Joshi, Spokesperson Suresh Shah, and Competition Director Sanjeeb Mishra addressed the media regarding the tournament.

Ticketing rights have been sold to Mount Everest Sports and Events Pvt. Ltd for 8 million rupees, while marketing, digital, and broadcasting rights were secured by AD Release for 2.5 million rupees. Matches will be broadcast live on Kantipur Max HD.

Ticket prices for group stage matches are set at Rs 300 for normal seats and Rs 500 for VIP seats. For the knockout phases, prices will increase to Rs 500 for normal seats and Rs 1000 for VIP seats. Young spectators aged 10 and under can enter the stadium for free.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of food options from stalls located within the Dasharath Stadium premises.

Pakistan, Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh have already arrived for the tournament, while India is scheduled to arrive later on Tuesday, followed by Bhutan on Wednesday morning.

Final squad for SAFF Women's Championship announced

The final squad for the SAFF Women's Championship 2024, taking place from October 17-30 at Dasharath Stadium, has been announced.

Head coach Rajendra Tamang revealed the squad on Monday. The tournament will kick off with India facing Pakistan in the opening match on Thursday.

In addition to India and Pakistan, the competition features teams from Maldives, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Nepal. Nepal previously hosted the tournament in 2022, where they finished as runners-up after losing to Bangladesh in the final.

Deceased academy players to receive Rs 800,000 each

The ANFA Executive Committee held an emergency meeting to address the tragic loss of academy players in the Sisneri landslide.

The meeting decided to provide Rs 800,000 in compensation to the families of the deceased players: Diwas Baniya, Priyans Acharya, Saimon Yonjan, Anupam Ghalan, Bikal Regmi, and Aditya Balampakhi. It also decided to seek further compensation from FIFA and AFC for the families affected.

A vigil will be held at the ANFA Complex at 5 pm on Monday to honor the players, and future school tournaments will be named in their memory. A probe committee, including central members Bikash Narayan Shrestha and Tika Lama, has been formed to investigate the incident.

SAFF Women's Championship 2024: National women's team squad reduced to 27

The national women's team squad for the SAFF Women's Championship 2024 has been reduced to 27.

Head coach Rajendra Tamang had previously called up 40 players in his squad but chose to leave out 13 players on Sunday.

Nepal will host the regional tournament from October 17-30.
