Abdullah Almutairi appointed as head coach of men's national team

Kuwait national Abdullah Almutairi has been appointed as the head coach of Nepal's men's national football team initially for a one-year term.

Abdullah is a pro license holder and AFC coaching instructor. He was recommended to the job by the technical committee of All Nepal Football Association (ANFA).

His appointment comes after request by ANFA to Qatar Football Association (QFA) to send a AFC pro license coach. QFA and ANFA had signed a memorandum of understanding regarding development of technical aspect of the game in 2018.

Abdullah has previous experiences with clubs in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. He has also worked as the coach of the Kyrgyzstan U-16 team.

Abdullah said he was happy and takes the job as a challenge. "I am delighted to work in Nepal where the people are really kind. I take this job as a challenge and with our game, I hope to make every Nepali supporters happy," said Abdullah.

Coach Abdullah said he has studied the players and the country well before taking up the job. "I watched the team play in the Three Nations Cup. We have a good pool of players and hopefully we can celebrate on more occasions like being crowned the Three Nations Cup Champions," said the coach.

Lumbini Futsal Rupandehi qualifies for National Futsal League

Lumbini Futsal Rupandehi has qualified for 'A' Division National Futsal League as qualification round concluded in Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim Province.

Lumbini Futsal defeated Jharna Sports Club Rupandehi 7-2 in the final on Saturday.

A total of eight teams had participated from the provinces.

The next round of qualification will be held in Province 3 from April 7-11.

Govt to award Three Nations Cup 2021 winners with 400,000 each

Nepali men's national team members will receive Rs 400,000 each from the government after their victorious campaign in the Three Nations Cup 2021.

A cabinet meeting on Thursday took the decision to award national team footballers with the cash prize.

Nepal defeated Bangladesh 2-1 in the final of the cup at Dasharath Stadium with goals from Sanjog Rai and Bishal Rai. It was Nepal's first trophy on home soil in 37 years.

ANFA has already announced to provide Rs 100,000 to each players.
