Nepal and Bangladesh shared the spoils in a goalless draw in their first international friendly at the Dasharath Stadium on Saturday.

The home side pressed for a breakthrough throughout the match but could not find the finishing touch. Bangladesh had the ball in the net early on, only for the effort to be ruled offside.

Nepal came closest in the 29th minute when Ananta Tamang’s flick off a Manish Lama free kick was denied by goalkeeper Mohammad Sujon Hossain. Bangladesh nearly responded in the 39th minute, but Sumon Rezzal’s attempt flew over the crossbar.

Chances continued after the break. In the 68th minute, Gillespijung Karki forced a save with a long-range strike. Eight minutes later, Nepal’s captain Kiran Chemjong kept out a powerful effort from Sohel Rana, set up by Rakib Hossain.

The game eventually ended scoreless, marking Nepal’s return to the Dasharath Stadium after 21 months.

Earlier, Minister for Youth and Sports Teju Lal Chaudhary kicked off the event by handing over the match ball to the officials.

ANFA President Pankaj Bikram Nembang, Vice President Dawa Lama, and General Secretary Kiran Rai welcomed National Sports Council Member Secretary Tanka Lal Ghising and Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Nepal Md. Shafiqur Rahman ahead of the match.
