ANFA holds League Workshop with A Div clubs

All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) on Monday held a workshop with A division clubs regarding the upcoming Martyr's Memorial 'A' Division League.

ANFA and clubs agreed to begin the league from January 10. The league will be played in double round robin format.

ANFA has also increased preparation money to clubs by Rs 1 million. Every clubs will now receive Rs 3.25 million as preparation money for the league.

The prize money, however, remains unchanged. The winner of the league will receive Rs 7.5 million followed by Rs 5 million to runner-up and Rs 2.5 million to second runner-up.

Cash prize for Fair Play Award has also been increased by Rs 100,000 to Rs 300,000. The highest scorer and Best Goalkeeper will also receive Rs 200,000 each and the prize money for Most Valuable Player remains unchanged at Rs 300,000.

Winning club of each match will receive Rs 50,000 as match money. If the match is drawn, the amount will be shared equally between two clubs. Each Player-of-the-Match will receive Rs 10,000 each.

Various presentations regarding on club licensing, marketing, competition matters, accounting were made to the clubs in the workshop.

ANFA President Pankaj Bikram Nembang, Senior Vice President Bir Bahadur Khadka, Vice President Birat Jung Shahi, General Secretary Kiran Rai, executive committee members and representatives from all 14 A division clubs were present in the workshop.

Nepal rout Bhutan in SAFF U-15 Championship

Four from Barsha Oli, brace from Sukriya Miya and a single from Senu Pariyar helped Nepal to a thumping 7-0 victory over Bhutan in the SAFF U-15 Women's Championship in Dhaka on Thursday.

Oli scored her four goals in the first half before Miya and Pariyar added three more goals in the second half in a dominating display at Shipahi Mostafa kamal Stadium in Dhaka.

Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh are taking part in the competition which began from November 1.

Nepal will now play their second match of the competition against Bangladesh on Saturday.

30 players called up for Pakistan friendly

Head coach Prabesh Katuwal has called up 30 players for the friendly against Pakistan on November 16 at Dasharath Stadium.

Katuwal, taking charge of the national side for the first time, said it was an opportunity he didn't want to miss. "I know the national team is a challenging job and it is even going to be difficult to play against Pakistan given the time constraints but this is something I didn't want to miss. I want to do better in this job," said Katuwal.

Speaking about players' selection, Katuwal said he believes he has assembled the best team for the friendly. "I may be comparatively new to management but I have been associated with football for over two decades now. This team is my experience of those years," said Katuwal who has won consecutive Martyr's Memorial 'A' Division League with Machhindra Football Club.

Katuwal said the exclusion of influential midfielder Bishal Rai from the national side was due to injury. "Rai is injured and he will not join the squad."

Katuwal said Pakistan game would be a difficult one for Nepal. "We know Pakistan is returning to international football after years of exile but their players have been playing in foreign countries. They are a strong team to beat and we obviously want to beat them," he said.

The closed camp of the national side will begin from Wednesday at ANFA Complex.

Nepal to play friendly against Pakistan on Nov 16; Katuwal appointed head coach

The Nepali national men's team will play an international friendly against Pakistan national team on November 16 at Dasharath Stadium.

Pakistani men's team, returning to international football after a hiatus of eight years, will arrive in Kathmandu for the friendly.

ANFA has appointed Prabesh Katuwal as the head coach of the team for the upcoming friendly.

Katuwal received his appointment letter at ANFA Complex in Satdobato on Tuesday. The friendly will be played at 5 pm.
