Sankata and Army in finals

June 10, 2017 - CMG Sankata Club and Nepal Army set the title clash in the Lalit Memorial U-18 Championship after earning wins in their respective matches at the ANFA Complex on Saturday.

Sankata edged Friends’ 4-2 in penalties, while Nepal Army blanked arch rivals Nepal Police 4-0. The final is set for Monday afternoon at 3 PM.

The match between Sankata and Friends’ went into penalties after the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Ranjit Gurung’s 42nd minute lead for Sankata was cancelled out by Sumit Chohan Magar in the 47th minute.

In the penalty shootout, Nabin Gurung, Dipesh Ale Magar, Devraj Tamang and Ranjit Gurung scored for Sankata, while Sagar Thapa was off the mark. For Friends’ Nishan Thapa Magar and Dikshit Thapa were the two scorers. Rumesh Bartaula and Aashish KC missed the target for Friends’.

In the second semi-final between Army and Police, a hat-trick from Dinesh Yonzon was enough to end the hopes of Police.

Yonzon scored in the 15th, 44th and 72nd minutes for Army, while Prizen Tamang was also on the score-sheet with a goal in the 88th minute. Though, Army lost Roman Limbu in the 74th minute through a red card, Police were unable to take any advantage of situation.
