Army, Friend, APF advance

June 4, 2017 – Nepal Army Club and Friends’ Club both booked their quarter-final berth from Group B in the Lalit Memorial U-18 Championship at the ANFA Complex on Sunday.

In the final group match between the two sides in question, Nepal Army routed Friends’ 4-0 to advance as the group winner with maximum nine points, while Friends’ collected six points to move through.

Manang and Far-west both are without any points in the group. The two sides meet on Tuesday in a face saving encounter.

Kshitiz Raj GT scored a brace in the win for Army with first of the match coming in the 21st minute. GT came back for his second in the 29th minute.

Biswas Udas made it 3-0 for Army in 56th minute and Dinesh Yonzon sealed the win in the 81st minute.

In the other match of day, Armed Police Force came from behind to defeat Jhapa XI 2-1. With the win, APF also found themselves in the quarter with six points from three matches from Group A.

Jhapa XI, who were on lead for quite some time in the match, moved out of contention following two losses and one draw. The other members in the group, Chyasal and Saraswoti, both have a chance to make it through with just a point separating the two.

A draw can put Chyasal through when the two sides meet later on Tuesday but Saraswoti will require a  win to advance. Chyasal have four points, while Saraswoti have three.  

 Jhapa XI scored early in 21st minute through Dishanta Rai but two substitute players of APF deprived Jhapa XI from bagging their first  victory.

Siddharath Kumar Bal came in the 46th minute  in place of Ramji Kumal to restore parity in the 67th minute and Yang Dorje Thing went in for Pawan Shrestha in the 89th minute to score the match winner in the 90+2 minutes.
